This was a really close finish in Diesel Class P between Matt Shepard’s ALEXSA ROSE and Eric Beal’s KIMBERLY ANN with no more than two feet separating their bows.

BOOTHBAY HARBOR LOBSTER BOAT RACES – 20 June

The races at Boothbay Harbor are always popular with the lobster boat racers who come from all up and down the coast for the Friday night get together and the Saturday races. Brown’s Wharf opens up their docks, and the racers fill a number of their rooms. Some of the older racers can remember the legendary Friday night parties. They were loud and lasted well into the night, but now, it is more subdued.

On Friday night there were about 20 boats tied to the face dock. The weather was forecasted for some strong winds the end of the week and those that had made their way to Boothbay said that their ride was pretty bumpy. Race day we woke to some fast-moving clouds and lots of wind and it was hoped that this would not keep racers tied to their moorings. Sign-ups went smoothly, but in the end we had only 37 boats, which was 16 less than last year. It was thought that the weather was a factor, but also the price of fuel might have kept some racers tied to the mooring.

First up were the Work Boat Classes and the wind was going to be a challenge for them as it was blowing across the course. There was just one entrant in Class A (Skiffs 16-feet and under with outboards up to 30 hp, Operator 18 years and younger) Walker Linscott in WICKED WALKER [16-foot Aluminum; 15-hp]; three in Class B (Inboards, outboards or outdrives, 31 to 90 hp) Andy Correa’s 15-foot Boston Whaler [90-hp Yamaha]; Colyn Rich’s PISS MISSILE [Corson 15; 90-hp Mercury] and Mason Vintinner’s SCREEN TIME [Corson 16; 90-hp Yamaha]; and they were sent down together. This was a race to watch as the top boats would never slack off the throttle. As they made their way to the finish line there was some serious bouncing, but none got too far out of the water. First over was Andy Correa, followed by SCREEN TIME and then PISS MISSILE. There were four boats in Class C (Inboards, outboards or outdrive 91 hp and up) and they had an easier time, but still pretty bouncy. First over was Jacob Noyes’ WHITE KNUCKLE [Aquasport 17; 175-hp Johnson] followed by his father, David Noyes’ ZIPPAH [Corson 16; 150-hp Evinrude].

Just one boat, Andrew Taylor’s BLUE EYED GIRL [Morgan Bay 38, 900-hp Scania] came to the line for the Fastest Working Lobster Boat – Boothbay.

There were just two boats entered in the five Gasoline classes: Jim Koehling’s BROWN EYED GIRL [Duffy 26; 454-hp Chevrolet] in Gasoline Class C (376 to 525 cid, 24 feet and over) and Mark Freeman’s FOOLISH PLEASURE [30’ Custom Riley Beal; 800-hp 550 Chevy] in Gasoline Class D (V-8, 376 to 540 cid, 28 feet and over). There were no boats in Class A (4 & 6 cylinder 24 feet and over), Class B (V-8 up to 375 cid, 24 feet and up) and Class E (V-8, Over 525cid, 28 feet and over, superchargers/Turbos). Unfortunately, FOOLISH PLEASURE had a fuel issue and could not get the engine to fire up leaving us just one boat.

Next up was the Diesel Classes and there were no entrants in classes L (901 hp, 28 feet and over) and Q (Non-working boats, any length, any horsepower). There was only one entrant in Classes A (Up to 235 hp, 24 to 31 feet 11 inches) Richard Hildings’ CAP’T. EM [Calvin Beal 30; 235-hp Cummins]; Class B (Up to 235 hp, 32 feet to 39 feet 11 inches) Matt Carter’s HOWARD [South Shore 34; 200-hp Caterpillar]; and Class D (236 to 335 hp, 34 feet over) Mark Davis’ WHISKEY GIRL II [Duffy 34; 300-hp Sisu]; and two in Class C (236 to 335 hp, 24 to 33 feet 11 inches) Roy Fagonde’s LAST DESIGN [E. Libby, Jr., 31; 300-hp Caterpillar] and John Albaum’s WOUND UP [Calvin Beal 28; 300-hp John Deere] so we combined them into a single race. The only boats we had to watch was in Class C and that was won by LAST DESIGN, the Classes with one entrant were automatic winners in their respective classes. Five boats came to the line in Class E (336 to 435 hp, 24 to 33 feet 11 inches). The boat to beat would be Randy Durkee’s AUDREY MAY [Holland 32; 425-hp Cummins], which has dominated this class for the last several years. Eyes would also be on Alden Sawyer’s ENTROPY [Holland 30; 425-hp 6.7 Cummins], which was a student project at Maine Maritime Academy last winter. He had launched the boat the day before and really did not have much of a chance to fine tune her. There was also a question about the location of the engine being too far forward, which would not allow the boat to easily lift her bow. When the flag dropped it did not take long before AUDREY MAY was in the lead. The real battle was for second between Jake Dugas’ GUILTY PLEASURE [Mitchell Cove 32; 380-hp Cummins] and Mason Vintinner’s AMY KATHREN [Osmond 29; 350-hp Cummins] with GUILTY PLEASURE getting the second spot. Fourth went to Tishe Sawyer’s WILBUR [Holland 32; 425-hp Cummins] followed by ENTROPY. There was only one entrant in Class F (336 to 435 hp, 34 feet to 39 feet 11 inches) Winfred Alley’s FAITH MELLE [Libby 34; 425-hp Cummins]; Class G (436 to 550 hp, 28 to 35 feet 11 inches) Mariena Beal’s MY TURN [Wayne Beal 32; 500-hp Cummins] and Class H (436 to 550 hp, 36 feet to 39 feet 11 inches) Willie Coombs’ MELYNDA M [Wayne Beal 36; 500-hp FPT] so they were all sent down together, each winning their respective classes. Two boats came to the line for Class I (551 to 700 hp, 28 to 35 feet 11 inches). For the last several years this class has been a battle between Gary Genthner’s LIL’ LISA MARIE [Mussel Ridge 28; 600-hp FPT] and Chris Smith’s MISTY [Crowley Beal 33; 650 hp Scania] with MISTY coming out as the season’s winner last year. Since there was just one boat entered in Class J (551 to 700 hp, 36 feet to 39 feet 11 inches), Sean Clemons’ MEAN KATHLEEN [Wayne Beal 36; 700-hp Scania] she ran down with them. It was a good race and this time LIL’ LISA MARIE came over the line in first. Next up was Class K, which saw three boats come to the line. Over the last several years Andrew Taylor’s BLUE EYED GIRL [Morgan Bay 38, 900-hp Scania] and Jeff Eaton’s LA BELLA VITA [Northern Bay 38; 815-hp FPT] has always had very close finishes and today was no different. As they hit the halfway point it was obvious that BLUE EYED GIRL had the advantage with LA BELLA VITA right on her stern as they finished one-two. Finishing third was Zach Donnell’s REGENCY [Calvin Beal 38; 800-hp Scania]. There was just one entrant in Class M (40 feet and over, up to 500 hp), Justin Papkee’s PULL ‘N PRAY [Wayne Beal 40; 500-hp Isuzu], two entered in Class N (40 feet and over, 501 to 750 hp) Jason Chipman’s MISS MADELYN [Osmond 42; 700-hp Scania] and Wayne Clemon’s TEMPTATION [Young Brothers 40; 730-hp MAN] and two in Class O (40 feet and over, 751 to 1000 hp) Dana Beal’s NATALIE E. [Libby 41; 1,000-hp FPT] and Ryan Lemieux’s OBSESSION [Young Brothers 40; 1,000-hp Caterpillar] so they were combined into one race. The winner of Class N MISS MADELYN, but all eyes were on NATALIE E. and OBSESSION as they came up the course. OBSESSION gained the lead and slid over the line, winning by a boat length. During sign-ups both Eric Beal in KIMBERLY ANN [Calvin Beal 42; 750-hp FPT] and Matt Shepard’s ALEXSA ROSE [Morgan Bay 43; 750-hp John Deere] decided to jump up to Class P (40 feet and over, 1001 hp and over). These two racers have been battling for several years with KIMBERLY ANN coming out victorious most of the time. As they worked their way towards the finish line it was very close and the judges made sure they were on the line. As they crossed the finish line it was KIMBERLY ANN by half a boat length with a speed of 41.1 mph. Third went to Jams West’s PIER PRESSURE [Osmond 40; 1,001+-hp FPT].

There were no entrants in either Wooden Boat Class, so the Gasoline Free-for-All was up, but it had just one entry, BROWN EYED GIRL. Nine boats came to the line for the Diesel Free-for-All which was won by BLUE EYED GIRL, followed by LA BELLA VITA and MY TURN.

The final race was Fastest Working Lobster Boat, which had the same results as the Diesel Free-for-All.

With the conclusion of the races, a number of the competitors headed for Rockland for the next day’s races. It was still blowing and some had a bumpy ride. However, there were a number of the racers that decided to stay in Boothbay for the night. They said it was an absolutely beautiful ride the whole way.

ROCKLAND LOBSTER BOAT RACES, 21 June

The weather people had forecasted inclement weather for the Rockland races, but we woke up to a gorgeous day with bright warm sunshine and a light sou’west breeze. I had signed up 21 people at Boothbay for the Rockland races and hoped that we could double that number, but it was not to be. When sign ups concluded we had just 30 boats entered.

There were no entrants in Work Boat Class A; just two in Class B, SCREEN TIME and PISS MISSILE; and two in Class C David Johnston’s CASCO MISS [Eastern 22, 250-hp Honda] and Julian Spofford’s PLAYMATE [Mitchell Cove 20; 150-hp Yamaha] so they were sent down all together. The battle in Class B went to SCREEN TIME with a speed of 47.7 mph and Class C was won by CASCO MISS.

Again, there was just one racer, BROWN EYED GIRL, in the Gasoline Classes, Class B so she ran down the course for the easy win.

Next up was the Diesel Classes and there were no entrants in Classes D, L, and Q. There were also a number of classes with just one or two boats and those were combined. This did not affect the results as each class was judged separately. With just one entrant in Class A, CAP’T. EM, two in B, Jeff Gove’s SHOCKWAVE [Harold Gower 38; 210-hp Cummins] and Bill Oliver’s KAREN LYNN [South Shore 34; 220-hp John Deere and one in C, LAST DESIGN they were sent down together. The race committee only had to figure out the winner in Class B and that went to SHOCKWAVE. Four boats came to the line in Class E and AUDREY MAY took her second win of the year. The battle for second was again close between GUILTY PLEASURE and AMY KATHREN and at the line it was GUILTY PLEASURE by half a boat length. There were two boats in Class F, FAITH MELLE and Avery Waterman’s SOUTHERN COMFORT [Mitchell Cove 35; 435-hp Cummins], one in Class G, MY TURN and they came down together. The battle here was between FAITH MELLE and MY TURN, which went to MY TURN by a couple of boat lengths with each getting the win in their respective classes. There was one entrant in Class H, Ryan Ames’ JADE AA GRACE [Holland 38; 450-hp Volvo], so they were run together with LIL’ LISA MARIE and MISTY for a re-match in Class I. This time it was closer, but the win went to LIL’ LISA MARIE. Next up was a combination of Classes J and K. In Class J was MEAN KATHLEEN and Kyle Grant’s KOHEN MILES [Northern Bay 38; 800-hp Scania] and in Class K LA BELLA VITA was matched up with Steven Osgood’s SHOOTIN’ STAR [Northern Bay 36; 750-hp John Deere]. MEAN KATHLEEN took the win in Class J, but the real battle was in K as they crossed the finish line with just ten feet separating their bows with LA BELLA VITA getting the win. There was just one entrant in Class M, PULL ‘N PRAY, one in Class N, MISS MADELYN, and they were sent down together with each getting the win. In Class O, NATALIE E. and OBSESSION were ready for a re-match. As they headed up the course NATALIE E. had the advantage, however, the gap seemed to be closing, and they crossed the line with just ten feet separating their bows. The judges called NATALIE E. the winner. The final diesel class race was P and another battle between ALEXSA ROSE and KIMBERLY ANN took place. This was going to be the closest race finish yet as they were literally bow to bow as they came across the finish line. The judges, positioned right on the line called KIMBERLY ANN the winner by no more than two feet. Third went to Tom Clemons’ 4 LADIES [Wesmac SW46; 1,001-hp Caterpillar].

There was just one boat in the Gasoline Free-for-All, BROWN EYED GIRL and he ran down the course for the win.

Ten boats came to the line for the Diesel Free-for-All, and it was LA BELLA VITA getting the win with SHOOTIN’ STAR second followed by MEAN KATHLEEN.

There were no entrants in the Wooden Boat classes, so it was onto the final race of the day, the Fastest Lobster Boat Race. Six boats came to the line and as they neared the finish line NATALIE E. had the lead with MY TURN second and LA BELLA VITA gaining on the outside. As they came across the finish line, LA BELLA VITA slipped by both of them for the win by just two or three feet.

BASS HARBOR LOBSTER BOAT RACES – 28 June

One of the only things that stops a lobster boat race is fog. When I left Winterport, I was fogged in, but you could see that the overhead was breaking up. At the Penobscot Narrows Bridge between Prospect and Verona Island you could not see down the river. However, by the time I got to Ellsworth it was breaking up and as I crossed over onto Mount Desert Island it had cleared up for a drop-dead beautiful day of racing.

Sign-ups seemed to go on forever and the line did not look like it was getting shorter. Finally, the end came and we had 75 boats entered. What is interesting here is that most of the racers are local.

In the Work Boat classes there was just one racer in Class A, Braden Closson’s FIRST BORN [Tenacious 14; 15-hp Honda], seven in Class B and two in Class C, PLAYMATE so they were all sent down together. As they neared the finish line SCREEN TIME was way out in front and took the win in Class B. The real battle was for first in Class C and that win went to Jamey Lewis’ JAMEY ANNE [Mitchell Cove 20; 150-hp Honda] with PLAYMATE right on his stern. Second in Class B went to Kelsey Anderson’s TROUBLE [Carolina Skiff 16; 40-hp Tohatsu].

We had two boats entered in the Gasoline Classes with Wayne Rich’s OASIS [28’ Robert Rich; 350 Chevrolet] in Class B and FOOLISH PLEASURE in Class D. So, they were sent down together with each getting the win in their respective classes.

Next up were the Diesel classes. There were no entrants in Classes K and Q and with this many entrants there would only be a couple of combined races. Five boats came to the line in Class A and CAP’T. EM led the way with second going to Cameron Lunt’s SEA SPRAY [Novi 21; 75-hp Yamaha]. In third was Teenie Lunt’s HEZEKIAH DAVID [Young Brothers 30; 135-hp John Deere]. In Class B seven boats came to the line and in a close race SHOCKWAVE edged out David Schlaefer’s CAITLIN [Osmond 32; 225-hp John Deere] for the win. In Class C five boat came to the line and it was all LAST DESIGN with the real battle being for second, which went to Mike Dassatt’s SAVING GRACE [Holland 32; 280-hp Caterpillar] and third, which was a tie, went to Pat Hanley’s MICHAEL ALAN [Holland 32; 280-hp Caterpillar] and Wesley Chipman’s LIL’ R&R. Chad Libby, Jr.’s MYRTLE BELLE [Libby 34, 205-hp John Deere] took the top spot in Class D with Shawn Stanley’s MISS MARGO [Mitchell Cove 35; 300-hp John Deere] getting second. AUDREY MAY was going for her third win of the year in Class E and got it with AMY KATHREN second and GUILTY PLEASURE third. FAITH MELLE was also going for her third win of the year and was successful with second going to Chris Hodgkins’ JOHN EARL. The top boat in Class G was George Lawson’s MISS BETH III [Mitchell Cove 35; 550-hp John Deere] with Aaron Hinckley’s IRIS AMELIA [Mitchell Cove 35; 500-hp Cummins] taking second. There was no surprise seeing MELYNDA M. leading the way in Class H. With his engine back together, Travis Otis took second in FIRST TEAM [Northern Bay 36; 410-hp Sisu 645]. Third went to Nate Snow’s MORE MISS CHIF [Osmond 36; 550-hp John Deere], which unfortunately caught fire just before the 4th of July and was a total loss. In Class I LIL’ LISA MARIE was a no-show, but MISTY had competition from Jackson Lemieux’s ASPIRATION [Young Brothers 35; 450-hp Volvo]. MISTY got the win with ASPIRATION second followed by James Damon’s BETTY LOU [Libby 34; 700-hp FPT] in third. Class J was going to be a good race between MEAN KATHLEEN and Roy Hadlock’s JACKPOT [Wayne Beal 36; 675-hp Scania], the former GOLD DIGGER, but it was MEAN KATHLEEN by a couple of boat lengths. David Myrick’s JANICE ELAINE [Northern Bay 38; 815-hp FPT] was given a cosmetic upgrade this winter at A. R. Kennedy’s shop in Steuben and it paid off with a win in Class K over LA BELLA VITA in a very close race. LeBaron Libby, Jr’s. GRAMP’S LEGACY [Libby 41; 500-hp FPT] took the win in Class M with second going to Lewis Biship’s PROVIDER II [Young Brothers 40, 405 Cummins]. In Class N David Vintinner’s MASTER MASON [South Shore 42; 700-hp Volvo] slide over in first with Patrick Hanley’s MISS AMELIA [Young Brothers 40; 610-hp Volvo] placing second. Third went to Dean Barrett’s GRIN-N-BARRETT [Osmond 44; 750-hp MAN]. Next up was Class O and the battle between NATALIE E. and OBSESSION with five other boats on the line. As they headed up the course it was close, but by halfway OBSESSION had the advantage and got the win by a boat length. Another re-match was in Class P between ALEXSA ROSE and KIMBERLY ANN and again it seemed close, but ALEXSA ROSE slowed mid-way and KIMBERLY ANN went on for the win. Second went to Mack Kelley’s FIFTH GENERATION [Wesmac 46; 1,000-hp FPT] with ALEXSA ROSE third.

OASIS was the only wooden boat, so she won Wooden Boat A and also took the top spot in the Gasoline Free-for-All as FOOLISH PLEASURE just was not running right and was at the dock in the harbor.

Next up was the Diesel Free-for-All and it was another close race between JANICE ELAINE, LA BELLA VITA and OBSESSION. The win went to JANICE ELAINE with OBSESSION taking second.

In the Fastest Lobster Boat Race OBSESSION got the win with JANICE ELAINE second and LA BELLA VITA third.

The last race of the day was Bass Harbor’s Fastest Lobster Boat, and the winner was Travis Lunt’s STEPPIN’ UP [Mitchell Cove 35; 580-hp FPT], followed by Carroll Staples’ GOOSE [Mitchell Cove 37; 650-hp Volvo] and MISS AMELIA.

MOOSABEC REACH LOBSTER BOAT RACES, 4 July

News Flash: there was no fog in Jonesport for the races. We had bright sunshine, temps in the high 70s or low 80s and a nice sou’westerly breeze which built as the day went on. On Friday night I signed up 31 boats and Saturday morning another 64 for a total of 95 racers.

The first race of the day was actually Diesel Class O. There seemed to be some high pressure on the race committee, and their nerves were getting to them, and they wanted this race out of the way. Nine boats came to the line, but all eyes were on NATALIE E. and OBSESSION. OBESSION had two wins and NATALIE E. one. As they headed up the course it was obvious that NATALIE E. had the lead, but OBSESSION was gaining. At the finish line it was NATALIE E. by a boat length with a speed of 44 mph. Third went to Jeff Strout’s KHOAS [Calvin Beal 44].

The only recreational race held with the lobster boat races is at Moosabec. Two boats came to the line and this year Kraig Church in EGAD flew up the course with a speed of 66 mph. Back several boat lengths was Alton Smith’s ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL.

Next up was the Work Boat Classes. There were two boats entered in Work Boat Class A and the win went to Ryker Gray [Sylvan 14, 25-hp Yamaha] with Natalia Merchant’s SMOKEY DOO [13’ aluminum; 25-hp Evinrude] second. Ten boats were on the line for Class B. Ralph Davis’ in ALPEX [16’, 90 hp Johnson] has dominated this class for over 20 years and this year was no different as he won by a number of boat lengths. Second went to Aiden Rittenhouse’s QUICK TIDE [Corson 16; 90-hp Honda]. In Class C Tyler Childer’s BOTTOMS UP [Calvin Beal 16; 200-hp Yamaha] got the win with Caleb Norton’s WHITE LIGHTNING [Mako 20; 200-hp Evinrude] second in a close finish.

We had three boats signed up for the Gasoline Classes: OASIS was in Class B, FOOLISH PLEASURE in Class D and yes Sean Alley has his engine back in LITTLE GIRLS [28’ Calvin Beal Jr.; Chevy] and all seemed good to go. Unfortunately, FOOLISH PLEASURE never made it to the line as she is still not running right. When the flag dropped everybody could hear the big gas engine start up the course. LITTLE GIRL lead the way with a speed of 55 mph. Unfortunately. Sean did push the throttle all the way until he neared the finish line and that meant the radar gun would not get a good reading.

Next up were the Diesel classes. There were no entrants in Classes J, L, and Q. Six boats were on the line for Class A, which was won by Jeremy Tyler’s JUMPIN’S [Holland 30; 210-hp International]. Second went to Jacob Kirby’s BARE BOTTOM [BHM 25, 220-hp John Deere] and Charlie Smith, Jr.’s JUSTIN’ N’ CASE [Young Brothers 33; 210-hp Cummins] got third. Three boats were entered in Class B, and the win went to Glenn Beal’s VERDA MAE [Willis Beal 38’; 220-hp John Deere], followed by Maverick Beal’s JOYCE ELLEN [Newman 36; 210-hp Cummins]. LAST DESIGN took the top spot in Class C with second going to Jason Tyler’s HOLLY LYNN [Holland 32; 315-hp Cummins]. Five boats were on the line for Class D, and it was thought it would be Chad Libby’s MYRTLE BELLE [Libby 34, 205-hp John Deere] and Ivan Libby’s WRECKING CREW [Libby 38; 305-hp Caterpillar] vying for the win like last year. It was close but MYRTLE BELLE was definitely in the lead and WRECKING CREW had second but then slowed thinking they had passed the finish line and that allowed Michael Emerson’s LATE BLOOMER [Crowley-Beal 36; 305-hp Cummins] to sneak into second place. Would AURDEY MAY get her fourth win in Class E or would Dan Sawyer’s HIGH VOLTAGE [AJ-28; 400-hp Yanmar] break her winning streak? Halfway up the course it was all AUDREY MAY with HIGH VOLTAGE back a couple of boat lengths. Third went to Scott Reynold’s CUTTER’S LEGACY [T. Jason 28; 420-hp FPT]. FAITH MELLE was also going for her fourth win of the season, but she was going up against Mitch White’s BOUNTY HUNTER [Calvin Beal 34; 425-hp Cummins], which was Winfred Alley’s last boat and still very competitive. FAITH MELLE led the way to the finish with BOUNTY HUNTER back a couple of boat lengths. There was just one boat in Class G, MY TURN and she ran down against the three boats in Class H. Dean Beal’s MISS NORMA [Wayne Beal 36; 500-hp Cummins] has always been one of the top boats in this class but does not compete on the circuit. As they came up the course MISS NORMA had the lead with MELYNDA M. back by a boat length. Third went to Oscar Beal’s PAPA’S PRIDE [Wayne Beal 36; 500-hp FPT]. In Class I it was a rematch of ASPIRATION and MISTY, and it was MISTY by two boat lengths at the line. Third went to Steve Carver’s ANOTHER DIRLS [Holland 35, 550-hp John Deere]. Another rematch was in the JANICE ELAINE and LA BELLA VITA in Class K and this time it was LA BELLA VITA taking the top spot by a boat length. The winner of Class M was GRAMP’S LEGACY with a speed of 27.4 mph. Second went to Milton Merchant’s MISS TONIA [Libby 41; 500-hp Cummins] and third was Patrick Kelley’s FEELIN’ NAUTI [Osmond 40; 405-hp Cummins]. Five boats were on the line for Class N, and the winner was MISS MADELYN followed by Trevor Jessiman’s AIN’T MISS BEHAVIN [Calvin Beal 44; 750-hp John Deere] and Zach Geel’s NIKKI ELIZABETH [Wayne Beal 46; 750-hp FPT] took third. In Class P four boats came to the line and here was another rematch between ALEXSA ROSE and KIMBERLY ANN. KIMBERLY ANN got the win with a speed of 41.4 mph. Third went to Travis Perry’s ISLA & GRASON [Wesmac 50; 1,900-hp Scania].

Next up was Wooden Boat Race A and the Gasoline Free-for-All with LITTLE GIRL and OASIS on the line. LITTLE GIRL came storming up the course, but where was OASIS? Before the race, Wayne had said that the engine was making an interesting sound and hoped it would hold together. Well, apparently it did not as she was dead in the water and needed a tow back to the boat ramp on Beals.

Seven boats were on the line for the Diesel Free-for-All and leading the way up the course was LA BELLA VITA with JANICE ELAINE right on her stern followed closely by OBSESSION.

In the World’s Fastest Working Lobster Boat it was again LA BELLA VITA the winner with JANICE ELAINE second.

The final race of the day was World’s Fastest Recreational Lobster Boat and just LITTLE GIRL came to the line. There was no question when he hit the throttle as you could hear that engine scream all the way up the course. Shawn after the race thought he was over 60, but being on an angle with the radar gun we could not get an accurate reading.

It was now onto Stonington and that is guaranteed to be a big event with lots of great racing.
