Dana Beal’s NATALIE E., Tom Clemons’ MOTIVATION and Mariena Beal’s MY TURN heading up the course in the Diesel Free-for-All at the Portland Lobster Boat Races.

WINTER HARBOR LOBSTER BOAT RACES

8 August 2026

Early sign-ups on Friday night had about 40 entrees and on Saturday morning the line was consistent and in the end, we had 95 racers entered. Not bad considering the weather forecast. Many of us were following that and it called for rain starting at about 0900 and ending around 1200 to 1300. The weather person was actually right this time. It started as a few large rain drops and then the skies opened up and stayed that way till about 1300.

Missing was Shawn Alley’s LITTLE GIRL [28’ Calvin Beal Jr.; Chevy], which was rumoured to have a carburetor issue. Tom Clemons’ new boat, a Morgan Bay 43 powered with a 1,800-hp MAN had been launched and during sea trials it was found that her gear was not working as it should. It was said that even though the gear had an issue she was still going over 50 mph. Mariena Beal’s MY TURN [Wayne Beal 32; 1,300-hp Isotta] was there but changed her class from Diesel Class G (436 to 550 hp, 28 to 35 feet) to Diesel Class L (901 hp and over, 28 feet and over). The Cummins had been replaced with a 1,300-hp Isotta putting her in the top diesel class.

At Winter Harbor they only have one Working Boat Class (Inboard, Outboard or Outdrive, any hp, must have working hauler), which had eight entrants. First over the line was Caleb Norton’s WHITE LIGHTNING [Mako 20; 200-hp Evinrude] followed by Nathaniel Robinson’s DADDY DIDN’T BUY IT [Passamaquoddy 24; 350-hp Yamaha] and Tyler Childer’s BOTTOMS UP [Calvin Beal 16; 200-hp Yamaha].

Like the other venues this year there was not much of a turnout in the Gasoline classes. There were no entrants in Gasoline Classes A (4 & 6 cylinder 24 feet and over), B (V-8 up to 375 cid, 24 feet and up), C (V8, 376 to 525cid, 28 feet and over) E (V-8, Over 525 cid, 28 feet and over, superchargers/Turbos) and just one boat, which was Mark Freeman’s FOOLISH PLEASURE [30’ Custom Riley Beal; 800-hp 550 Chevy] in Gasoline Class D (376 and over, 24 feet and over (Non-working racer).

The Diesel Classes had just a few with one or two entrants and thus only had three combined races. Five boats came to the line in Diesel Class A (Up to 235 hp, 24 to 31 feet) and the winner was Jeremy Tyler’s JUMPINS! [Holland 30; 210-hp International]. Second place went to Gavin Hunt’s ABBE & EMMIE [Osmond 27; 225-hp John Deere] followed by Ike Moshier’s TRIPLE THREAT [Repco 30; 210-hp Cummins]. Next up was Diesel Class B (Up to 235 hp, 32 feet and over), which had just one racer entered so they were combined with the four boats in Diesel Class C (236 to 335 hp, 24 to 33 feet). No one was surprised on the committee boat to see Roy Fagonde’s LAST DESIGN [E. Libby, Jr., 31; 300-hp Caterpillar] leading the way. Jason Tyler’s HOLLY LYNN [Holland 32; 315-hp Cummins] took second and Adam Kimball’s MISS ATTITUDE [Holland 32; 265-hp John Deere] coming all the way from Long Island in Casco Bay took third. First place in Class B was Dylan Johnson’s KILLIN’ TIME [Repco 37; 220-hp John Deere]. Two boats came to the line for Diesel Class D (236 to 335 hp, 34 feet and over) and the winner was Randall T. Lilly’s DEEP SIX [Webber’s Cove 34; 300-hp Cummins] with second going to Jett Joy’s FAST BREAK [Duffy 35; 300-hp John Deere]. One of the most competitive classes on the circuit has to be Diesel Class E (336 to 435 hp, 24 to 33 feet), which had eight boats entered. The odds-on favourite to win would be Randy Durkee’s AUDREY MAY [Holland 32; 425-hp Cummins], but the question was did Dan Sawyer’s HIGH VOLTAGE [AJ-28; 400-hp Yanmar] have something to shake this up? It was a great battle, but first over was AUDREY MAY, second went to Mason Vintinner’s AMY KATHREN [Osmond 29; 350-hp Cummins] and then HIGH VOLTAGE in the closest finish of the day. Eleven boats were on the line for Diesel Class F (336 to 435 hp, 34 feet and over). Winfred Alley’s FAITH MELLE [Libby 34; 425-hp Cummins] came over first, but the real battle was for second between Lance Kennedy’s brand-new boat ANGIE MARIE [Wayne Beal 36; 430-hp Cummins], which slipped past Brian Strout’s SUNSHINE CHALET [Mitchell Cove 35; 425-hp John Deere] for second. Just three boats came to the line for Class G, which had been dominated by MY TURN, but with her gone who would come across first? Coming up the right side of the course was Patrick Faulkingham’s MARGARET E. [Young Brothers 30; 500-hp FPT] who was leading Connor Rossi’s ELLEN LOUISE [RP 35; 530-hp FPT] to the finish line. Third went to Scott Young’s MY SHER E [RP 35; 430-hp Cummins]. Seven boats were signed up for Diesel Class H (436 to 550 hp, 36 feet and over), but just six came to the line. The betting people had their money on Willie Coombs’ MELYNDA M. [Wayne Beal 36; 500-hp FPT], who had recently gone back in the water after a gear issue during the Stonington races. Another that was going well was Heath Eaton’s OFF THE HOOK [Crowley 36; 500-hp Caterpillar]. They would finish one-two and third went to Jeff Libby’s LEONA [Calvin Beal 38; 505-hp Caterpillar].

It was at this point that the fog shut in, but fortunately after about 45 minutes we were cleared by mother nature to finish the event. Diesel Class I (551 to 700 hp, 28 to 35 feet) had one entrant, Jackson Lemieux’s ASPIRATION [Young Brothers 35; 450-hp Volvo] so she was combined with Diesel Class J (551 to 700 hp, 36 feet and over), which had two racers in it. ASPIRATION got the win in her class, and the winner of Class J went to Roy Hadlock’s JACKPOT [Wayne Beal 36; 675-hp Scania] with second going to Alan Dugas’ DELUSIONAL [38’ John’s Bay Boat, 600-hp Cummins]. There were just two boats in Diesel Class K (701 to 900 hp, 28 feet and over) and Class L. The money was on Jeff Eaton’s LA BELLA VITA [Northern Bay 38; 815-hp FPT], but David Myrick’s JANICE ELAINE [Northern Bay 38; 815-hp FPT] came flying up the right side of the course for the win in Class K. In Class L MY TURN showed her stern to Cailin Chase’s ACES AND EIGHTS [RP 35; 610-Cummins] all the way to the finish line. Five boats were on the starting line for Diesel Class M (40 feet and over, up to 500 hp). The win went to Billy Bob Faulkingham’s 51 [Osmond 40, 500-hp John Deere] followed by Roy Whalen III’s MISS ANGELA [Webber’s Cove 40; 500-hp Caterpillar] and Dan Backman’s ELAINE SUE [43’Backman; 385-hp Detroit]. Fourteen boats were on the line for Diesel Class N (40 feet and over, 501 to 750 hp), which has been dominated by Jason Chipman’s MISS MADELYN [Osmond 42; 700-hp Scania] and today was no different. David Vintinner’s MASTER MASON [South Shore 42; 700-hp Volvo], all the way from Yarmouth, grabbed second and Todd Goodell’s BAILEY G. [Mussel Ridge 42; 750-hp John Deere] took third. Up next was Diesel Class O (40 feet and over, 751 to 1000 hp), which has become one of the most contested classes between Dana Beal’s NATALIE E. [Libby 41; 1,000-hp FPT] and Ryan Lemieux’s OBSESSION [Young Brothers 40; 1,000-hp Caterpillar]. When the flag dropped on the start boat OBSESSION looked like she jumped right into the lead and never looked back as they finished one-two. Third went to Dixon Smith’s SIZE MATTERS [Libby 45’ 3”; 1,000-hp FPT]. Another boat of note was Jacob Knowles’ new boat ALLIE ALAYNA [Wesmac 50; 800-hp MAN], which finished nineth. Now, the betting people were putting their money down on Eric Beal’s KIMBERLY ANN [Calvin Beal 42; 750-hp FPT], who has yet to lose a race this year in Diesel Class P (40 feet and over, 1,001-hp and over). However, Matt Shepard’s ALEXSA ROSE [Morgan Bay 43; 750-hp John Deere] was more than willing to throw a monkey wrench into the mix and took the win by a boat length. Third went to Mack Kelley’s FIFTH GENERATION [Wesmac 46; 1,000-hp FPT]. The winner of Diesel Class Q (Non-working boats, any length, any horsepower) went to Ann Johansen’s SARI ANN I [40’ Johns Bay Boat, 375-hp 3208 Caterpillar].

Next came “Oh My God That’s a Big Boat, 44 feet and over” and the winner was SIZE MATTERS, followed by FIFTH GENERATION and Michael Hunt’s GAVIN & DAWSON [Wesmac SW 46; 1001-hp Caterpillar].

In the Lady Skipper’s Race there were just two boats on the line, and the winner was MY TURN followed by Brittany Dunbar’s CLAW & ORDER [—; 380-hp Cummins].

There were no entrants in Wooden Boat A (Any hp., up to 35 feet 11 inches), but there were two wooden boats on the line for Wooden Boat B (Any hp., 36 feet and over). The win went to DELUSIONAL followed by SARI ANN I.

Just one boat, FOOLISH PLEASURE, was on the line for the Gasoline Free-for-All.

Only five boats came to the line for the Diesel Free-for-All, and the winner was OBSESSION with MY TURN second and JANICE ELAINE third.

The same boats came to the line for the Fastest Lobster Boat Race, and the results were quite different. The win went to MY TURN followed by LA BELLA VITA and OBSESSION.

MERRITT BRACKET LOBSTER BOAT RACES, Pemaquid

8 August 2026

What a beautiful day, bright sunshine, temps in the 80s and a slight breeze. A great crowd gathered at the fort, as well as a good spectator fleet on either side of the course. Sign-ups were slow, but that was because everyone loves to arrive after sign-ups close. In the end we had 38 boats entered, which was down 17 boats from last year, but I really do not think it was any one reason or should elicit any concern.

Remember this is not a sanctioned race and the classes are different. That sometimes means some boats have different competition, which makes this a fun event.

First up were the skiff classes, beginning with Clamdigger and Lobster Pickers: Outboards 25 hp and under. Skiffs under 16-feet and operators 18 and under. There were two boats entered, but Jennifer and Emily Noyes’ JENILY [Corson 14; 30-hp Johnson] developed an issue and could not make it to the start line. The winner was Cole Poland’s SADIE MAY [Stratford Dory; 25-hp Yamaha]. Next came Clamdigger and Lobster Pickers: Outboards up to 70 hp. Skiffs over 16-feet. As the six competitors came up the course, leading the pack was David Noyes’ ZIPPIN [Corson 14; 60-hp Johnson] with a speed of 37 mph. He was followed over the line by James Fossett’s STANLEY [16’ Aluminum; 40-hp Yamaha] and Blake Feltis’ SKIDMARK [12’ Carolina Skiff; 30-hp Yamaha]. In the final skiff race, Clamdiggers and Lobster Pickers: Inboards or outboards – 71-hp and over, Skiffs 16 feet and over, there were eight boats on the line. The bets were on Jacob Noyes and WHITE KNUCKLE [Aquasport 17; 175-hp Johnson] and he did not disappoint with a speed of 46 mph. Second went to David Noyes’ ZIPPAH [Corson 16; 150-hp Evinrude] and in third was Al Strout’s MAYHEM [Holiday Starcraft 18; 115-hp Mercury].

There were no gasoline boats entered this year, so it was onto the Diesel Races. The first Diesel race, Diesel 175 hp and under, 24-feet and over, had no entrants. The next two Diesel races and two each so they were combined. First over the line was Don Drisko’s MERGANSER [33’ Calvin Beal Jr.; 230-hp Yanmar], who won Diesel 211 to 250-hp, 24-feet and over. Second went to Ben Collyer’s RAGNAROCK [Duffy 34; 225-hp John Deere]. In Diesel 176 to 210-hp, 24-feet and over the winner was SHOCKWAVE with second going to Matthew Taylor’s S. AND T. MARIA [South Shore 34; 210-hp Cummins] in a close finish. GUILTY PLEASURE was chased up the course by John Albaum’s WOUND UP [Calvin Beal 28; 300-hp John Deere], but he was able to fend him off as they finished one-two in Diesel 251 to 350-hp, 24 and over. Third went to Greg Carter’s MAVERICK [Crowley 36; 300-hp John Deere]. In Diesel 351 to 450-hp, 28 to 39 feet 11 inch and under know one was surprised to see FAITH MELLE leading the other two racers up the course with a speed of 38 mph. In second was Josh Harvey’s RUNNING LATE [Repco 37; 435-hp Caterpillar] and third went to Bill McLean’s SHEILA & IVY [Holland 38; 375-hp John Deere]. In Diesel 451 to 650-hp, 28 feet and over the win went to Gary Genthner’s LIL’ LISA MARIE [Mussel Ridge 28; 600-hp FPT] with a speed of 40 mph. Second was Tyler McFarland’s KNOTTY LADY [Osmond 36; 530-hp FPT]. There was only one boat in Diesel, 651 to 800-hp, 28 feet and over MEAN KATHLEEN so she ran down with the next race, getting the automatic victory. The other race in this combination was Diesel 801-hp and over, 28 feet and over pitting Andrew Taylor’s BLUE-EYED GIRL [Morgan Bay 38, 900-hp Scania] and LA BELLA VITA in a great battle. It was close till about halfway up the course when BLUE EYED GIRL got separation and won by a couple of boat lengths with a speed of 45 mph. There were no entrants in Diesel up to 650-hp, 40 feet and over and so next up was Diesel 651 to 800 hp, 40 feet and over with three entrants. The win went to Wayne Clemons’ TEMPTATION [Young Brothers 40; 730-hp MAN], followed by Eben Wilson’s LETTIE ELISE [Young Brothers 45; 800-hp MAN] and Jason Lord’s AVA LUCILLE [Calvin Beal 42; 700-hp Volvo]. The final Diesel race was Diesel 801-hp and over, 40 feet and over. Jumping right into the lead and getting the win was NATALIE E. followed by ALEXSA ROSE and Tom Clemons’ 4 LADIES [Wesmac SW46; 1,001-hp Caterpillar].

There was only one Novi Boat entered, Kyle Westhaver’s HIGHLANDER [32’ Novi; 300-hp John Deere] and she ran down with the Wooden Boats of which there were two. The winner of that was MERGANSER with second going to SHOCKWAVE.

Six boats came to the line in the Diesel Free-for-All, and the win went to BLUE EYED GIRL followed by LA BELLA VITA, NATALIE E., MEAN KATHLEEN, ALEXSA ROSE and 4 LADIES.

In the Fastest Lobster Boat Afloat Race, BLUE EYED GIRL jumped into the lead and never looked back. In second was LA BELLA VITA followed by NATALIE E.

Long Island Lobster Boat Races

15 August

Early sign-ups went really well. It is impressive to see the islanders and racers turn out for the Long Island racing memorabilia. The line was probably a hundred yards long for quite a while, but finally about 1900 it petered out and the organizers were left with just a few sizes for Saturday morning. I had 32 signed up for Long Island and 23 for the Portland races on Sunday and this would save a lot of time in the morning. Saturday morning, I signed up a number more and had 63 racers entered when all was done.

A couple of noteworthy items. Missing was Ryan Lemieux’s OBSESSION of Cutler, who was tied with Dana Beal’s NATALIE E. in Diesel Class O. Also missing was Tucker Johnston’s RIJO [Mussel Ridge 28; 550-hp Cummins], which is one of the top competitors in Diesel Class G. All season we had been hoping to see Tom Clemons’ new boat and just before the start we got word that he was coming with her.

The first race, Work Boat Class A, had four boats entered, but one was a no show. After the start boat dropped the flag the other three headed for the finish. First over the line was Sam Whitener’s APRIL l. [18’ Pointer; 70-hp Yamaha], but she was disqualified as she had more horsepower than is allowed in this class. The win went to Walker Linscott’s WICKED WALKER [16-foot Aluminum; 15-hp] and in second was Carmine Papkee’s LLAMA LLAMA [Amesbury Skiff 14; 20-hp Tohatsu]. In Work Boat Class B no one was surprised to see Mason Vintinner’s SCREEN TIME [Corson 16; 90-hp Yamaha] leading the four other competitors to the finish line. Second to cross was Lisa Kimball’s ALTHEA [Fore River 20; 90-hp Mercury] followed by Andrew Miller’s TILL YOU CAN’T [HMS 16; 40-hp Yamaha]. In the final Work Boat race there were eleven boats on the line. It was all WHITE KNUCKLE, followed by Mark Olsen’s F7-55 [AB19VST; 200-hp ETEC] and ZIPPIN.

We had four boats signed up in the four different Gasoline Classes. In Class A was Tim Day’s ALL DAY LONG [Johnson 28; V-6 Gas]; Class B Jeff Croft’s TILLY [Brownell; 350 260-hp Mercruiser]; Class D FOOLISH PLEASURE; and Class E Steve Johnson’s LYNN MARIE [Sisu 26; 632 Chevrolet]. They were all combined since they were all winners. There was a great battle between FOOLISH PLEASURE and LYNN MARIE and at the line it was LYNN MARIE by a boat length. The top speed was 46.8 mph.

In the Diesel Classes there were no entrants in Classes B and D, but there were also a number with one or two boats, so we did some combining. On the line was Diesel Class A with one entrant, Silas Jones’ SPITTING IMAGE [Osmond 27; 210-hp Cummins] and four in Diesel Class C. Leading the way up the course was MISS ATTITUDE with a speed of 27.2 mph. He was followed over by John Clarke’s LUROHA [Calvin Beal 28; 300-hp John Deere] and then Bruce Hamlin’s RUTHLESS [Mussel Ridge 28; 325-hp Yanmar]. In Class A SPITTING IMAGE turned before the finish line and did not finish. Five boats were on the line for Diesel Class E, and the money was on AUDREY MAY, which easily won. The real battle was for second which went to AMY KATHREN and in third was GUILTY PLEASURE. FAITH MELLE was the easy winner of Diesel Class F. Zach Pettit’s JACK-O-ROE [Holland 32; 355-hp Cummins] slid over in second in a close finish with Craig Stewart’s CARL & CO. [Wayne Beal 36; 405-hp Cummins]. The winner of Diesel Class G went to Tom Cloutier’s BITTERSWEET [Mitchell Cove 32; 500-hp Volvo]. In Diesel Class H the winner was Bill Waldron’s DOROTHY K. [Northern Bay 36; 500-hp Yanmar] followed by Travis Otis’ FIRST TEAM [Northern Bay 36; 410-hp Sisu 645]. The winner of Diesel Class J was MEAN KATHLEEN and DELUSIONAL was second. Diesel Class K and L were combined as there was just one boat in each: LA BELLA VITA in Class K and MY TURN in Class L. It seemed close, but by halfway MY TURN had the lead and would win by three of four boat lengths. Three boats were on the line for Diesel Class M and PULL N’ PRAY got the win, but the real battle was for second between Larry Rich’s LOBSTER LOOKER [50’; 450-hp] and Cody Stewart’s ANOTHER ONE [OEM 42; 500-hp]. They finished with just five feet between their stems with second going to ANOTHER ONE. Diesel Classes N and O were run together. NATALIE E. got the win in Class O with a speed of 44.4 mph. The winner of Class N went to TEMPTATION followed by MASTER MASON. Next up was one race everyone was waiting for Diesel Class P and Tom Clemons’ new MOTIVATION. She ran up with ALEXSA ROSE and won by several boat lengths with a speed of 52.1 mph. Diesel Class Q was won by SARI ANN I.

Next up was the Wooden Boat Races. The winner of Class A was TILLY and of Class B was DELUSIONAL followed by SARI ANN I.

In the Gasoline Free-for-All it was another great fight between FOOLISH PLEASURE and LYNN MARIE. As they came up the course it was really close and then it looked as though FOOLISH PLEASURE found another gear as she got up to the side of LYNN MARIE, but she just did not have enough to get by.

In the Diesel Free-for-All six boats were on the line, but who would come out on top? As they hit midway MY TURN had the advantage with MOTIVATION right on her stern as they finished one-two. Third went to LA BELLA VITA.

The top three boats in the Diesel Free-for-All went down for the Fastest Lobster Boat and finished exactly the same with a top speed of 56.1 mph.

A new race this year was for Holland 32s, and nine boats came to the line. This was won by AUDREY MAY. In second was Alden Sawyer’s ENTROPY [Holland 30; 425-hp 6.7 Cummins], followed by John Weir’s IRISH LADIES [Holland 32; 430-hp Cummins].

In the Royal River Race the top boat was Jack Spear’s THE GULL [Webber’s Cove 22; 150-hp Mercury] with second going to CARL & CO and in third was GUILTY PLEASURE.

The final race of the day was the Boats Built by Johnson’s Boat Yard, which was won by David Johnston’s CASCO MISS [Eastern 22, 250-hp Honda]. In second was LUROHA followed by ALLISON EVA.

Portland Lobster Boat Races

16 August

Sunday morning arrived with bright, warm sunshine and a slight breeze. About 0800 I headed out to the committee boat, Tom Werner’s PATIENCE [42’ Novi], sitting on the finish line on the Portland side of the racecourse. Sign-ups went well as I added an additional 19 more entrants to the already 23, I had signed up at the Long Island races.

In Work Boat Class A WICKED WALKER continued his winning ways followed by LLAMA LLAMA. In Class B it was all SCREEN TIME, but at the helm was Walker Linscott, who is rumoured to now be the owner of SCREEN TIME. Second went to ALTHEA and in third was Kelsey Anderson’s TROUBLE [Carolina Skiff 16; 40-hp Tohatsu]. In Class C F7-55 just got by CASCO MISS for the win with third going to BOTTOMS UP.

Just two boats came to the line in the Gasoline Classes. In Class D was Keith Ivers’ FUELISH DECISION [General Marine 26; 425-hp (502) Chevrolet] and in Class E was LYNN MARIE. They both ran down together winning their respective classes.

Next up was the Diesel Classes and there were no entrants in Classes D and I with several races with just one or two entrants meaning more combining. The first race was a combination of Class A, B and C. Leading the way to the finish was MISS ATTITUDE, the winner of Class C followed by RUTHLESS second in Class C. Next over was Bruce and Dale Dyer’s RELENTLESS [BHM 28; 200-hp Yanmar] winner of Class A. They were followed by Curt Brown’s LIL’ MORE TAIL [Calvin Beal 33; 225-hp John Deere] winner of Class B. John Carroll’s GRAMMIE ANNIE [32’ Frank Day, 1980; 119-hp John Deere] took second in Class A. There were five boats on the line for Diesel Class E, and no one was surprised to see AUDREY MAY flying up the racecourse for the win with a speed of 40.4 mph. The real battle all year was who would get second and today it went to AMY KATHREN followed by GUILTY PLEASURE. Diesel Classes F, G and H were combined. The only entrant in Class F was FAITH MELLE and the only one in Class G was Josh Audet’s KARAMEL [Crowley 34; 450-hp Cummins]. In Class H Nick Martinez’s PRETTY WOMAN [Calvin Beal 36; 510-hp Caterpillar] sailed to an easy win as FIRST TEAM nursed a sick engine up the course for second. Next up was Diesel Classes J, K and L. As they headed up the course MY TURN came over first winning Class L with LA BELLA VITA winning Class K. MEAN KATHLEEN would be the winner of Class J with second going to DELUSIONAL. Diesel Class M was a rematch between PULL N’ PRAY and ANOTHER ONE, which was won by PULL N’ PRAY. Four boats were on the line for Class N, and it was TEMPTATION taking the top spot followed by MASTER MASON and then Scott Dugas’ SAND DOLLARS III [41’Johns Bay Boat; 700-hp Caterpillar].

Portland is one of the only places where tugboat races are still held. As they made their way down the course the winner was KAY’S MINI TUG [Rhodes 19; 60-hp Tohatsu] followed by the Z-drive tug ANDREW MCALLISTER and then CHARLES D. MCALLISTER. It is always an impressive sight to see these monsters coming up the course throwing off tremendous wakes.

Diesel Class O and P were combined. There was just one entrant, NATALIE E. in Class O. In Class P MOTIVATION would face off against ALEXSA ROSE with MOTIVATION getting the win. The winner of Diesel Class Q was SARI ANN I.

Next came the Wooden Boat Races and there were four Johns Bay Boat Company boats on the line for Class B. The finish was so close that it was deemed a tie between DELUSIONAL and SAND DOLLARS III and in third was Alan Dugas’ ROLLING STONE [John’s Bay Boat 44; 700-hp Lugger].

The winner of the Gasoline Free-for-All was LYNN MARIE, the only one to come to the line.

Eight boats came to the line for the Diesel Free-for-All, and no one was surprised to see MY TURN leading MOTIVATION and LA BELLA VITA to the finish.

Now came the final race of the day and the year and just two boats, MY TURN and MOTIVATION, were on the line for the Fastest Lobster Boat. MY TURN got the win with MOTIVATION right on her stern.

It was a very good season. We had great weather with the exception of Winter Harbor and good turnout even though we were down a bit at every event. I am already looking forward to next year and cannot wait to be back in Boothbay in 10 months.
